What is ALICE?

In late 2005, PyTom published ALICE, an Assembler of Loose Individual Character Elements. The real meaning of this unwieldy title is anyone’s guess, but the purpose of ALICE was very simple: to make it easy to create visual novel characters. Combined with Ren’Py, a simple yet powerful visual novel engine, anyone with a computer and a story to tell could share it.

What is ALICE.NET?

ALICE has been rebuilt from the ground up using Microsoft.NET and XML technology.  ALICE.NET aims to re-imagine the digital paperdoll, while keeping to the simplicity of her namesake.  The alternate title Arbitrary Layered Image Composite Editor is proposed, reflecting ALICE’s potential use for manipulating images for backgrounds and other purposes in addition to characters.
